HOW IT WORKS

From the shift total to a checked payout ledger.

  1. 1
    Build the source total

Enter cash tips, card tips, and a signed adjustment. TipWeigh adds those entries in the selected currency; it does not perform currency conversion.

  2. 2
    Define the pool

Keep one pool or divide the total between two whole-number percentages that add to 100. Each pool can use a different allocation method and eligible staff list.

  3. 3
Apply a weight to each person

Equal uses one share per eligible person. The other methods use entered hours, entered points, or hours multiplied by points.

  4. 4
    Reconcile and export

TipWeigh floors exact shares to whole cents, assigns leftover cents by largest fractional remainder, and checks that payouts equal the source total before copy, print, or CSV export.

FOUR METHODS · FREE

The ordinary calculation stays on the free side.

A free user can finish a real shift, print it, and export a spreadsheet-safe CSV. Pro is for repeating the work.

01Equal

One share per eligible person.

02Hours

Hours worked become the weight.

03Points

Your entered role points set the weight.

04Points × hours

Both values contribute to the share.

TIPWEIGH PRO · $3/month

The second close should take less typing.

Pro adds local tools for a team that repeats the same process. Access is tied to your subscription; records still belong to this browser profile.

READ BEFORE USE

TipWeigh calculates the rule you enter.

It does not determine worker eligibility, confirm wage-law compliance, calculate withholding, move money, or submit payroll. Review your policy and local obligations.

LOCAL RECORDS

Your browser is the filing cabinet.

Drafts, rosters, imports, history, and PDF settings are stored in IndexedDB. There is no TipWeigh cloud workspace. Export the versioned JSON backup before a browser reset or device move.

QUESTIONS AT CLOSE

Straight answers.

Which allocation methods are included for free?

TipWeigh includes equal shares, hours worked, role points, and points multiplied by hours in the free calculator. You can use any method with one pool or assign a different method to each of two percentage pools.

Can TipWeigh split tips between two groups?

Yes. TipWeigh can divide the distributable total into one or two pools. When you use two pools, their whole-number percentages must total 100, and each pool can have its own eligible staff and allocation method.

How does TipWeigh handle a leftover cent?

It floors each exact share, then assigns the remaining cent or cents to the largest fractional remainders. An exact tie uses stable staff ID order, so the same inputs produce the same result.

Does TipWeigh decide who can join a pool?

No. You enter eligibility and the calculation method. Check your policy and applicable requirements with a qualified adviser.

Where are shift records stored?

The active draft, rosters, and history are stored in this browser profile. Sign-in checks feature access but does not upload or sync the workspace. Use the JSON backup before clearing the browser or changing devices.

Which currencies does TipWeigh support?

TipWeigh can format a shift in USD, GBP, EUR, CAD, or AUD. One currency applies to the whole shift, and TipWeigh does not convert between currencies.

How much does TipWeigh cost?

The free plan includes unlimited single-shift calculations, CSV export, printing, and JSON backup. TipWeigh Pro costs $3/month and adds local repeat-close tools and an ad-free experience. Crate Pass costs $15/month and includes all Cashew Crate apps. Prices shown exclude applicable taxes.
